Consular Legalization

Thai Consular Legalization Translation - Certified & Walk-in Service

Thai official documents used abroad usually need an English translation with certification, followed by legalization at the Department of Consular Affairs before they are accepted. The translation therefore has to be accurate and formatted so it is immediately ready for that next step.

We are a dedicated translation center providing standard-quality translations with a certified translation stamp, formatted ready for legalization at the Department of Consular Affairs (Chaengwattana). You can submit the documents yourself, or ask our team to walk them through the process for you.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is consular legalization, and how is it different from certified translation?

A certified translation carries our translation center's stamp on the translated document. Consular legalization is the additional step of submitting the document and its translation to the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs - a step many foreign authorities require before the document can be used.

Do I need to send the original document?

For quoting and producing the translation, a clear photo or PDF is enough. The original is only required if you want us to walk the document through legalization at the Department of Consular Affairs, in which case a power-of-attorney form is also needed (available for download from our site).

Can I submit the documents to the Department of Consular Affairs myself?

Yes. You can take the certified translation to the Department of Consular Affairs (Chaengwattana) yourself. If you can't go in person or don't want to wait in the queue, our walk-in service is around 1,200 THB per visit, with fees, timing and steps confirmed before we start.

Will the document also need embassy attestation afterwards?

That depends on the destination's requirements. Some countries require additional attestation at their embassy - we offer embassy submission support in Bangkok at around 1,500-3,000 THB per visit, which can be quoted together with the translation.
